This past weekend was the SCPPHC Grand Championships & Fall Classic Double show, at the LA Equestrian center in Burbank CA. Sedona, Coronado and I headed down after work on Friday, leaving the great SY Valley weather to a hot 100 in Burbank. Saturday morning, Sedona and I entered the Mares Pleasure class and the AOTR Pisos, taking blues with both judges in both classes!
Coronado placed a respectable 3rd (out of 10) in the stallions pisos class. His little brother, MCD Rubenejo, was 1st. I started thinking about it - Coronado is still out there competing with horses half his age and placing well.
Sedona qualified for 4 championship classes. I decided not to show her in the breeding championship, as it was very hot and I didn't want to push her too much - this is only her 3rd show and she is doing so well! In the Amateur Performance Horse championship, she won Champion with BOTH judges out of 10 horses! That was VERY exciting - her third show and shes already a champion, winning against so seriously stiff competition also! We came back in for the Performance Mares championship, and she was Champion for the Grand Championship, and Reserve Champion for the Fall Classic!!! Since Coronado was last years Champion of Champions Amateur Performance Horse, my friend Charlotte rode Sedona in the Champion of Champions - its nice to have the problem of 2 horses in the Champion of Champions class!
Coronado won Champion of Champions Amateur Performance Horse for the Fall Classic. He also won Champion of Champions Performance Stallion with both judges! Phenom Farms had another amazing show - to sum it up:
KLP Sedona:
- 4 firsts
- 3 Championships
- 1 reserve Champion
MCD Coronado+:
- 3 Champion of Champions
We have had an amazing season. Coronado has been Champion of Champions in every show he attended this year, 10 champion of champion titles in 8 shows in 2008.

2008 Central Coast Peruvian Horse Show
This past weekend was the Central Coast Peruvian Horse Show in Santa Maria, CA, with Ed Houston judging. This show is always fun. Its held on the grass, and has a great family atmosphere. I usually just show the horses out of the trailer, and set up a little camp for the day. My boyfriend and his family were here visiting from Guatemala for the weekend, so we had a great time hanging out, and also showing horses.
It was only the second show for KLP Sedona. Sedona has been in the bit about 2 months, and she did wonderful! Vicente Avalon of Rancho de la Florectia did an incredible job training her. I showed her in Mares Breeding 4-6 and Novice Horse Performance. Andres rode her in the Mares Pisos class and the Mares Breeding Championship. Her full results:
- Mares Breeding 4-6: 2nd place
- Novice Horse Performance: 1st Place
- Mares Pisos: 2nd place out of 10 mares! A very competitive class!
- Reserve Champion Performance Mare
- Reserve Champion Breeding Mare
MCD Coronado+ also had a bang up show!- Stallions Breeding 7+: 2nd place
- Stallions Pisos: 1st place
- Best Gaited Horse of Show
- Champion Breeding Stallion
- Champion of Champions Breeding Stallion
- Champion of Champions Performance Stallion
I'm very proud of my 2 horses, especially for the wonderful performances of KLP Sedona. She's really turning into a great mare. It was very exciting to win our first Best Gaited and Champion of Champions Breeding Stallion together with MCD Coronado+! I'll post pictures and video soon!

Exploring the world of blogging....
So - I thought it might be fun to start a blog. With so much of my family and friends far away, at least this way everyone can keep up to date on the happenings over here - even if they always have to do with HORSES!!! :-)
